With the constant stream of unethical practices in treatment programs, it is time to unite and be ethical.  Heather Hayes discusses some of these unethical practices, and what is being done to raise awareness and make changes. She has been a uniting force in our industry and is taking a leadership role in making a difference. Unite for Ethics Now, a group that Heather founded, consists of a Board of Directors made up of parent advocates, addictionologists, treatment center CEOs, government officials, and attorneys. This group is working together to design ethical blueprints of standards and education for good quality care for consumers, providers, and professionals. (more…)

Social media is used every day to connect with friends and family, post photos, and tell stories. We spend much of our daily lives in a virtual community full of endless conversation. Social media continues an upward growth trend, as network giants such as Facebook and Instagram are seeing an increase in users. As of the third quarter of 2017, Instagram has grown to over 800 million users, and Facebook now sits at over two billion monthly users, the largest of the social media platforms. (more…)

At Lifeskills South Florida, clients present to us at various stages in their recovery journey.  For some individuals, Lifeskills is their first experience in treatment, and for others, they have struggled through years of addiction and have been in and out of multiple treatment centers. Regardless of where our clients are on this path to recovery, our goal is to assist them in identifying warning signs and barriers to their recovery process to create an effective aftercare plan and maximize each individuals’ chance of success in recovery.
