Over the past few weeks Alan Levine, co-founder of Addiction Recovery Legal Services, LLC. has given us in-depth information regarding the Florida Marchman Act. In our final part of the Lifeskills South Florida video series, Alan discusses the criteria used in the Marchman Act. The threshold for an individual begins when someone is impaired by drugs or alcohol (may not be actively using), and as result of that impairment, their skewed judgment makes them incapable of appreciating the need for further care. The person must also present a harm to themselves or others. Alan also discusses the assessment, timing, and additional strategies of the Marchman Act.
Lifeskills South Florida has been fortunate to work with Alan on many of these complex cases, and we appreciate the information that he has brought forth about this unique-life-saving law.
